Welcome to St Albans Community Preschool –
Nurturing Young Minds Since 1985
For nearly four decades, St Albans Community Preschool has proudly served the heart of our local community. Established in September 1985, we are a not-for-profit early childhood centre licensed for up to 35 children aged 2 to 5 years. Our long-standing presence reflects our deep commitment to making high-quality early childhood education both accessible and affordable for local families.
At the core of our preschool is a passionate and experienced team of fully qualified, registered kaiako. Many of our teachers have been with us for many years, creating a stable and nurturing environment where children thrive. Each kaiako brings a wealth of knowledge, creativity, and warmth to their teaching, guided by the principles of Te Whāriki – New Zealand’s early childhood curriculum.
As a community-governed centre, we are led by a volunteer Parent Board of Governance, and every decision we make keeps children and whānau at the centre. We believe in the power of small group learning, and we consistently maintain teacher-to-child ratios that are better than the minimum government requirements. This ensures each child receives more personalised attention, helping them feel secure, confident, and valued.
We are proud to offer exceptional care and education at some of the most affordable fees in our area. Our commitment to keeping fees low – while continually investing in quality teaching, resources, and meaningful learning experiences – reflects our belief that every child deserves the best start in life.
